Young people are rushing to complete their applications for NSFAS funding ahead of the deadline of midnight on the 30th November 2019. All South African’s are eligible for NSFAS funding if their household income is less than R350 000 per annum.
NSFAS funding is available to cover the full cost of fees, accommodation, books, living expenses for public universities and TVET Colleges.
Application forms are not needed for NSFAS funding as all applications are done online on the MyNsfas student portal and applicants just need to get their MyNsfas login details. All application details and supporting documents are uploaded onto the web portal.
NSFAS officials have warned applicants to be wary of a scam where young people are told they have to pay a R300 fee to apply for the funding. This is not true as there is no cost at all to apply for NSFAS bursary funding.
Other applicants have reported messages spread on Whatsapp inviting them to write application tests for bursaries offering free tuition at private colleges including residential accommodation. These message are also scams and applicants are warned to stay away.
